No Black Friday Sale? A Word on Our Pricing
You might be wondering why our site is not covered with pop-ups announcing massive Black Friday or Cyber Monday deals on our books. There are a number of plausible reasons. Are we, on principal, rejecting holidays designed to encourage excessive consumerism? Do we not have the will-power to spend on marketing materials and website updates for this campaign? There may be some truth to these answers, but the real truth lies in our pricing model.
Lumen et Logos was created with the purpose to spread the light of the Gospel by republishing works that are now in the public domain. With this driving principle, we want to provide our editions of these works at the best possible value.
We partner with Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP) to print and distribute our books. KDP requires a minimum listing price to cover their costs which is based on the number of pages. To determine the price which Lumen et Logos will offer a book, we simply take the minimum listing price and round to the next dollar. For example, if a book has a required minimum price of $4.23, we will list the book at $4.99.

To visualize this, above you see a graph showing the required minimum price and the listed price for each of our books we offer from Lumen et Logos. The reason we do not have a Black Friday sale is simply because we really can't lower our prices!
